In 2002, Steven Spielberg pledged $1,000,000 to be distributed over four years to organizations working in Israel to help alleviate the impact of the intifada on Israeli society. In 2006, Mr. Spielberg made an additional commitment of $1,000,000 to be distributed to Israeli organizations working to help all Israeli citizens affected by the war in Northern Israel. That same year, the Foundation launched a new fund focused on leveraging media for coexistence efforts in the United States and the Middle East to humanize the "other" and/or amplify the voices of those working towards common ground and understanding.  Please see Funds for Coexistence for more information.
