  • Description

With Israeli Arabs comprising roughly 20 percent of Israel’s population, it is critical that the country’s cultural institutions play a role in connecting them and Israeli Jews through art. To do this, the Jerusalem Cinematheque began screening films such as Selma and He Named Me Malala with Arabic subtitles during a six-month pilot of their Cinema for Everyone program (which RPF funded). This follow-up grant supports the expansion of the program as well as increased marketing to Arabic speaking audiences, efforts to make transportation to Cinema for Everyone screenings more accessible for Israeli Arab, and richer partnerships between the Cinematheque and East Jerusalem-based organizations.
